Wild Ones Delmarva Helps the Town of Denton, Maryland Achieve its Bird City Maryland Designation

Posted on | chapter-news

In partnership with the Caroline County Bird ClubCaroline County Garden Club, and Leaf & Bed, Wild Ones Delmarva Chapter has been pleased to support the Town of Denton in achieving its Bird City Maryland designation!

The Town of Denton now joins other municipalities and campuses around the state and country as a member of the Bird City Network. More about Bird City Maryland, a public recognition program celebrating existing community actions, educating, and motivating communities to take action toward healthy and environmentally sustainable ecosystems.

Representatives from our chapter volunteered on the team, helping the Town of Denton compile their application and even start new actions to support birds and a healthy ecosystem for Denton and the watershed. As an outcome, Wild Ones Delmarva volunteers created this native plant species and purchasing resource to share with the Town of Denton Public Works and the rest of the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Delaware. If you would like to help us add to this resource and support other municipalities in their goals for healthy ecosystems, please reach out to chapter representatives.

Bird City Maryland representatives will attend the Town’s meeting on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at 6pm to present the town with its official sign. We encourage you to attend this meeting in-person or virtually (link available soon) to represent Wild Ones Delmarva and support the Town of Denton’s continued actions in supporting healthy ecosystems.
